Options-Document Properties-Metadata

In the Metadata node of the Laserfiche PhotoDocs Options dialog box, you can set default metadata, such as file name and folder path, for all documents to be processed with this installation of PhotoDocs. If you encounter documents that should not inherit these properties, you can change the configuration in the Document Properties Pane.

Note: These settings will take effect the next time PhotoDocs is opened.

Laserfiche Document Metadata

Configure the following settings for how metadata will be applied.

Option Description Choices
Document name

Defines a default name for documents processed with PhotoDocs.

  • Use client autoname settings: Documents will be named according to the default name defined in Tools, Options, Autoname, General in the Laserfiche Client.
  • Use last specified name: Documents will inherit the default document name last specified in the PhotoDocs Document Properties Pane. This setting is dynamic: if the user changes the default document name, new documents will inherit that name until it is changed again.
  • Force user to input: The document name will always be blank by default. The user must specify a name before the document can be stored.
  • Custom: Assign a custom default name.
Template

Defines a default template for documents processed with PhotoDocs.

 

  • Use client import settings: Documents will be assigned the template defined in Tools, Options, New Documents, General in the Laserfiche Client.
  • Use last template assigned in PhotoDocs: Documents will inherit the template of the last template assigned in default document properties in the Document Properties Pane.This setting is dynamic.
  • No template assigned: Documents will not be assigned a template.
  • Specific template: Templates available to the current user in the current repository will be shown. Select a template.
Volume

Defines a default volume for documents processed with PhotoDocs.

 

  • Use client import settings: Documents will be assigned to the volume defined in Tools, Options, New Documents, General in the Laserfiche Client.
  • Use parent folder's default volume: Documents will inherit the default volume of the Laserfiche Client folder they are stored into.

    Tip: To define a default volume to a folder in the Laserfiche Client, right-click the folder, select Properties, select the Folder tab, and select a volume from the drop-down box. Ensure that you have sufficient rights.

  • Use last volume stored into: Documents will inherit the last volume set in default document properties in the Document Properties Pane. This setting is dynamic.
Folder Path

Defines the default folder path for documents processed with PhotoDocs.

  • Use last folder stored into: Documents will inherit the last folder path used by Laserfiche PhotoDocs. This setting is dynamic.
